Bureau of License Issuance

Responsible for the issuance and denial of licenses. This bureau receives and examines licensing applications for statutory compliance and verifies the applicant's eligibility for licensing through former employers, educational facilities and examination of criminal history records.

This Bureau consists of five sections as follows:

  1. Public Inquiry - This section responds to all inquiries relating to application requirements, licensing status and general information concerning Florida Statutes 1) Chapter 493 - Private Investigative, Private Security, and Repossession Services, 2) Section 790.06 - Concealed Weapons and Firearms.

  2. P.I.A. - Processes applications for security agencies, recovery agencies, recovery agents and interns, private investigative agencies, private investigators and interns; applications for security officer and recovery agent schools and instructors, and firearm instructor applications.

  3. D & G - Processes applications for security officers and statewide firearm licenses.

  4. Verification - Verifies that licensing experience requirements are met and reviews and researches criminal history for information that would preclude the issuance of a license.

  5. Concealed Weapons - Processes applications for concealed weapons or firearms licenses.
