Public Records Requests

Except for the personal identifying information pertaining to a Concealed Weapon or Firearm license, most records received and maintained by the Division of Licensing are public records, and are therefore subject to the disclosure provisions of Chapter 119, Florida Statutes, the Florida Public Records Law (119.07, FS).

Any individual or organization can submit an on-line public records request to the Division of Licensing. Alternatively, the request can be mailed to the Division at P O Box 3927; Tallahassee, FL 32315-3927; sent by fax to (850) 245-5493; or via telephone to our Public Records Liaison at (850) 245-5459.  To help us process your request as quickly as possible, the request should be very specific and detailed with regard to what information is being sought.  Remember, the personal identifying information pertaining to a Concealed Weapon or Firearm license cannot be disclosed with limited exceptions.

Note that the Division is allowed under the law to recoup the costs associated with producing records in response to a public records request. Unless the request requires extensive use of information technology resources and/or extensive clerical or supervisory assistance, in most circumstances our Division's public records administrator will notify requesters within 5 - 7 business days after we receive a request of any fees required.
